Offscreen is a quarterly print magazine built around 8 lengthy interviews with digital creators. It aims to tell “the less obvious human stories of creativity, passion and hard work that hide behind every interface”, and from the video it looks & sounds fantastic.
They are raising funds on Kickstarter and only have 3 days to go — so if this sounds like your cup of tea, head over and make a...

100goodthoughts:
A selection of pics from the show on June 8. We’re lookin’ tired but satisfied :)
I only made it part way through this project, but seeing all the amazing collections at the show the other night certainly inspired me to carry on and make sure I complete it at some point. Many thanks to Emma for organizing the whole thing :)

Tumblr browser statistics
I had to troubleshoot a few small quirks in Internet Explorer today while working on an update to the Scaffold theme, and I became curious as to what percentage of Tumblr users still use IE as their main browser. It can sometimes take a frustrating amount of time to fix these small layout/javascript bugs, and I wanted to know if the time spent was proportional to usage. The only Tumblr-related...

Scaffold 2.03 released
A new update is now available for the Scaffold theme which addresses a few items. If you are using the Scaffold theme, there are some important points to note (particularly if you’ve customised your HTML).
Source attribution
Tumblr recently announced a new approach to adding source attribution to posts. This update formats these in a nice way, rather than just having them inserted at the...

Small Scaffold update for Vimeo
Just a short note for any Scaffold users out there; There’s a small update that’s just gone live which fixes the layout of Vimeo embeds using their fancy new ‘embedinator’ script. It fixes new embeds, and also makes use of Matthew Buchanan’s updated script to upgrade older embeds to the new format. If you haven’t changed the theme HTML the fix will be rolled out...

Fixing the background 'bleed'
I recently came up against an issue in Safari where the background colour of an element seemed to ‘bleed’ through the edge of the corners when applying both borders and a border-radius (see the image above). After seeing David Cole tweet about the same issue I resolved to find a solution, and it came in the form of the -webkit-background-clip property.
-webkit-background-clip:...

Tall Poppy podcast
“I know who my local heroes are. They are very talented people doing awesome things, but we know very little about them and I’ve decided to change that. […] New Zealand has a problem with lopping the heads off tall poppies – instead of chopping them down, I’m singling them out to be recognised for their awesomness. To do so, I’ll be hosting a podcast series where I will interview local...

Tumblr staff: search is very important →
Please fix this at your earliest convenience, and we’ll be greatly appreciative, and a million useful cross-references will bloom.
Search and tag filtering are a really important part of the discovery process. I know the Tumblr staff are looking into this, so I hope a fix comes soon.
